4 Road Trip Stops Between Salt Lake City & St. George
If you grew up near Salt Lake City, you probably know the drive from Salt Lake City to St. George by heart. It's always the same monotonous trek: south along I-15 with a few stops in Fillmore, Beaver, or Cedar City to use the bathroom and grab some McDonald's.
But there's so much you're missing along the way! With a few short detours, you can transform the drive from a boring necessity to an exciting addition to your trip.
We've compiled a list of four of our favorite stops along the way to St. George to help take your road trip to the next level.

Hike through the canyon's gorgeous landscapes on your way to another world. Looking for a VERY scenic route (with some fun stops along the way)? Make a quick detour into the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway as you pass through Utah County. The entire loop adds about 1 hour and 10 minutes to your trip but gives you the opportunity to see some of the best that Northern Utah has to offer on your way to Southern Utah.
Most notable on the Alpine Loop are its famously vibrant landscapes in autumn, superb views of Mount Timpanogos and surrounding peaks, Timpanogos Cave (see #1), Sundance Ski Resort, and the opportunity for a short detour to the crystal clear Cascade Springs.
Please note that the loop is only open from late May - late October and that pulling trailers is prohibited.
