On Sundays at 9:00 AM, be sure to stop by to witness the Tabernacle Choir in person singing inside the Tabernacle for their weekly "Music and the Spoken Word" - it is free.

Free tours are offered daily by on-site missionaries. There are two visitor's centers to explore. Temple Square offers the Salt Lake Temple, the famous Tabernacle where the Mormon Tabernacle Choir has been broadcasting for decades each Sunday morning, as well as the ornate Meetinghouse Chapel, and gorgeous unparallelled meticulously-maintained grounds that make a fantastic photographing opportunity. Also check out the reflecting pool on the east facade of the Temple, and also enjoy several fountains that grace the grounds and add to the experience.

ATTRACTIONS ON TEMPLE SQUARE

Salt Lake Temple

Walking distance. World famous temple of the Mormon Church. Built of solid granite taken from the granite quarries in Little Cottonwood Canyon and transported by oxen. The Salt Lake Temple took 40 years to complete. Thousands sacrificed family, treasure, and their lives to complete this iconic masterpiece that Salt Lake is known for and from which the entire city grid/block system is centered off of. A visit to Salt Lake would not be complete without visiting this gorgeous temple.

North Visitor's Center

Walking distance. Visit the Christus statue in the large universe rotunda overlooking LDS Church Headquarters. Striking historical exhibits are also on display here as well as religious paintings, dioramas, as well as several theaters that offer informative videos and information about the beliefs of the LDS Church.

Joseph Smith Memorial Building

Walking distance, located across Main Street Plaza on east side of Salt Lake City Temple Grounds. Offers three restaurants, banquet rooms, and a beautifully ornate architecture worth seeing.

Family History Library

Walking distance, located across West Temple on west side of Salt Lake City Temple Grounds. People come form all over the world to research their family history using the vast database and records the Church offers. It is worth of visit, you may find something out about your great grandfather you never knew.

Conference Center

Walking distance, located across North Temple to the north of Salt Lake Temple Grounds. Hundreds of thousands of Mormons and visitors flock to this building each year to hear messages from church leaders. This vast building offers a massive auditorium that seats over 20,000 comfortably. It's worth a tour. And don't miss the garden are on the roof.

Church Office Buillding

Walking distance, located to the east of the Temple with walking paths leading to the building. This building is the general office headquarters for church leaders of the Mormon Church. 

Abravanel Hall

Walking distance, located on the southwest corner to Temple Square Historic District. Home of the Utah Symphony Orchestra and venue for many events and concerts year round.

City Creek Center

Walking distance, located across South Temple on south side of Temple Square Historic District. City Creek is a must-see! It offers a unique outdoor shopping experience unlike any other. Complete with a skybridge that spans Main Street, it also offers a retractable roof, several beautiful fountains with water that sings and dances, as well as big name department stores, shops, food court dining, and more.

Salt Palace Convention Center

If you're visiting downtown Salt Lake for a convention, we offer downtown vacation homes just minutes away from the Salt Palace Convention Center. Each year in August and January Salt Lake welcome's the Outdoor Retailer Convention. This is the largest convention in Salt Lake each year. It's highly recommended to secure your downtown vacation home lodging months in advance as they sell out and becomes very difficult to find a vacation homes to stay within 20 minutes of downtown.

Salt Palace Convention Center

walking distance 2 blocks southwest of LDS Church Headquarters. The Salt Palace Convention Center is home to Outdoor Retailer Summer and Winter Market Conventions, Young Living Convention, doTERRA, USANA, and NuSkin Conventions each year. Recent expansions have have made Salt Lake one of the best convention cities in America.

Directions

Driving to Temple Square

From Salt Lake International Airport:
Exit airport and prior to connecting onto Interstate 80 eastbound, follow the signs to North Temple, taking the fork to the right. This road will take you over Interstate 80 and eventually turns into North Temple. Continue on North Temple for several miles until you run right into the LDS Church Headquarters.

From the North:
Take Interstate 15 southbound until you reach downtown Salt Lake. Exit off 600 North eastbound. Turn right at 300 West. Continue southbound until you reach North Temple. Turn left. Continue on North Temple eastbound until you run into LDS Church Headquarters.

From the South:
Take Interstate 15 northbound until you reach downtown Salt Lake. Exit off 600 South heading eastbound. Continue on 600 South through several street lights until you reach West Temple. Turn left onto West Temple. Head northbound through several street lights until you reach North Temple. Temple Grounds in Salt Lake City will be on your left.
