Exciting annnouncement out of St. George! Ironman World Championship is coming to St. George in 2021. IRONMAN 70.3 in St. George is anything but ordinary. There really isn'tanything quite like it. We are so excited to have the big event here where we can host so many inspiring athletes.

St. George was not only selected to host the 2021 Ironman 70.3 World Championship triathlon, but additionally will host five other events in a five-year partnership with Ironman.
President and CEO of Ironman, Andrew Messick, made the announcement during a press conference at the Ironman athlete village on Thursday.
Messick also announced Ironman St. George, which will be a full-distance Ironman course.
According to St. George News, the Ironman site selection team spent March 25 and 26 touring the St. George area and meeting with city and Washington County leaders.
Ironman was choosing between Chattanooga, Tennessee, and St. George that were finalists of the two-day event returning to the United States after rotating to other countries.
That committee was met with a chanting crowd at Town Square Park yelling, "We want Ironman." The crowd has now got its wish.
The 2021 Ironman 70.3 World Championship race is taking place in September and will be in addition to the race taking place in May.
According to a Facebook post from the city, the economic impact from the world championships is an estimated $25 million.
Triathlon enthusiasts don't want to wait to get a taste of what's to come with future Ironman events. Thousands of people are expected to attend the Ironman 70.3 North American Professional Championship in St. George on Saturday.
An estimated 3,000 people are expected to attend the event with athletes from 46 states and 35 countries, territories and regions participating.
